Uzbekistan is rich in energy resources, with gold, oil, and natural gas serving as key pillars of its national economy. To date, more than 2,700 mineral deposits and mineralization occurrences have been identified, including over 1,000 proven deposits that contain approximately 100 types of mineral raw materials, of which more than 60 are already being mined on an industrial scale. These include 46 deposits of precious metals, 42 deposits of non-ferrous, rare, and radioactive metals, 3 deposits of ferrous metals, 20 deposits of gemstones, and 484 deposits of building materials. The spatial distribution of mineral resources is closely linked to the distribution of metallogenic belts, with most concentrations located in the central and eastern regions. In the eastern region, Tashkent Province is particularly rich in copper, lead–zinc, gold–silver, molybdenum, iron, arsenic, as well as lignite and oil and gas resources. In the central region, Navoi Province, Samarkand Province, and the northern part of Kashkadarya Province host deposits of gold–silver, lead–zinc, tungsten, tin, uranium, and rock salt. The southern provinces bordering Turkmenistan produce oil and gas resources, potash, and rock salt. Non-metallic mineral resources include kaolin, limestone, gypsum, quartzite, vermiculite, wollastonite, barite, graphite, and a wide range of construction aggregates.
