A Comprehensive Assessment of Hebei’s Major Mineral Resources

Through a survey of 1,379 verified mining areas across five major categories and 19 mineral types, a comprehensive inventory of Hebei Province’s principal mineral resources has been established. According to a relevant official from the Hebei Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Land, this initiative was launched in 2017 and involved a detailed verification of resource reserves, resource structure, ore quality, spatial distribution, and the spatiotemporal relationships with mining right holders in Hebei’s mining areas.
 

Through the survey, Hebei Province has gained a comprehensive understanding of the development and utilization status of mining areas across the province, producing 1,379 mine-site verification reports and generating more than 20,000 digital maps of various types, thereby providing reliable and accurate data to support future mineral resource management and mining exploration and development. During the survey, the Hebei Provincial Department of Natural Resources proactively tailored the scope of the verification to local conditions by including gypsum deposits and ultra-low-grade magnetite deposits—areas not covered by national regulations—and thoroughly identified and mapped previously unaccounted-for reserve blind spots outside the official national reserves inventory, thus achieving full coverage of the survey.

According to a relevant official from the Hebei Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Land, the survey has enabled Hebei to establish databases for the reserves of major mineral resources and for verification purposes, and to seamlessly integrate these two databases. This integration allows for a more intuitive understanding and comprehensive grasp of the quantity, utilization status, and ownership of resource reserves in each mining area, thereby laying a solid foundation for ultimately achieving unified, integrated management of mineral resources under a single, coordinated mapping system.
