Since its inception in 2017, the National Quartz Conference has set and maintained a record for the largest single-variety nonmetallic mineral materials conference in China, significantly boosting exchanges among industry, academia, and research institutions and fostering closer integration and collaboration across the entire quartz value chain. Now an annual flagship event, the conference has become a leading indicator and barometer of industry development, with breakthroughs in new technologies, products, and perspectives driving industry trends, strengthening the quartz sector’s new productive forces, and enabling all stakeholders in the quartz industry to share in the benefits of the silicon era.
Under the “dual carbon” strategy and the goal of high-quality development, industries such as new-energy photovoltaics, semiconductors, green building materials, and advanced chemical materials—where quartz serves as a foundational material—continue to enjoy robust growth; however, they are currently confronted with significant challenges. These include the sharp decline in high-grade quartz resources, the underutilization of premium deposits, low levels of digitalization and intelligent manufacturing, an unbalanced product mix, excessive internal competition, and market contraction. Moreover, the onset of a downturn in related industries has intensified the sector’s urgent need for clear directional guidance and for exploring untapped opportunities in what could become a “new frontier” for the market.
